Schedules

Change displays settings automatically with events — sunrise, charging and much more

Getting Started with Schedules

Once you’ve created your favourite Presets, Schedules let you automate when those presets activate — no clicks or shortcuts needed. Set it once, and your displays will adjust automatically.

What They Do

Schedules connect triggers (things that happen on your Mac) with presets (your saved display settings).
For example: when your Mac wakes up, DisplayBuddy can instantly switch to your Work Mode preset.

You can enable, disable, or edit schedules anytime — and create as many as you like.

You need at least one preset to create a schedule.

Uses
  • Workday automation: Switch to Work Mode every weekday at 9 AM.
  • Evening wind-down: Dim your displays automatically at sunset.
  • Dock setup: When you connect your external monitor, DisplayBuddy switches inputs and brightness automatically.
  • On the go: When you unplug your charger, power off external displays to save battery.
Triggers

Each schedule starts with a trigger — the event that causes it to activate.

Here are all the triggers currently available:

Time

Run a preset at a specific time, and choose which days of the week it repeats.
You can also pick Sunrise or Sunset — DisplayBuddy automatically detects these times for your location (with your permission). If not, you can set custom times manually.

Monitor Connected

Activate a preset when a specific monitor (or group of monitors) connects. You can select from any display you’ve previously used with DisplayBuddy.

Mac Lock / Unlock / Wake
  • Lock: Run a preset when your Mac locks.
  • Unlock: Run a preset when you log back in.
  • Wake: Run a preset when your Mac wakes from sleep.
Dark Mode
  • Dark Mode On: Perfect for dimming brightness automatically.
  • Dark Mode Off: Restore your normal brightness when light mode returns.
Power
  • Power Connected: When you plug in your charger.
  • Power Disconnected: When you unplug and go on battery.

Have an idea for a new trigger? Let us know here and we’d love to add it to DisplayBuddy.

Toggling a Schedule

Each schedule can be enabled or disabled anytime from Settings → Schedules — great for pausing a routine without deleting it.

With Schedules, your displays just know what to do — bright for work, dim for movies, and anything else that’s works for your routine.

You can explore and create Schedules in DisplayBuddy → Settings → Schedules, and start automating your day.
